Last nights Art Party at Expressionz Cafe was wonderful! Thank you to our participants, I hope you enjoyed learning to paint on silk. I certainly enjoyed sharing a media I love with all of you.

Latest works

I have been doing a lot of work in sketchbooks lately. Last year and again this year I have been participating in a traveling sketchbook project within my school district... I really enjoy seeing how other people have worked. I had my son in September and i am quite pleased with the belly cast I made at 7/8 months. I am learning to juggle art time and being a mommy time, but so far so good! I've managed to present at a conference for art educators and at a district PD day and have probably been doing more art now than i have in a while. I also participated in the 2013 Sketchbook Project (via the Brooklyn Art Library). My book has been digitized and is also going on tour so the links will be coming soon. :) I think I may have mostly worked through my obsession with hands... But maybe not, we shall see. I am now working on a series of silk paintings of magpies... Intelligent birds with a lot of superstition/myth surrounding them... And of course, they are attracted to bright shiny things...

I realized today that I haven't posted in ages and I have done so much! I will try to get the work I have done in the last two years (!) posted and get a few more art lessons up as well. The following are images from 7 altered books I made as the final project for my graduate degree. As of June 2012, I have a Masters Degree in Visual Art Education. I will also post my capping paper/artist statement.
